250 WEST 55TH

MIDTOWN WEST

Beginning December 2005, Madison Equities purchased land from the Hearst Corporation and continued to assemble contiguous parcels, thereby creating the single largest development tract in all of Midtown Manhattan. In 2006 Madison Equities hired Coop Himmelb(l)au and together they designed a magnificent hotel and residential tower for the site. Later Madison re-established their links with Boston Properties as their co-developer and became partners in this mixed-use building.

It was programmed to be a 123 oversized condominium residences sitting atop 350 key five star hotel. The building did not come to development, but was to be New York’s third tallest tower and the first ever twisted building in New York. Subsequently, Madison Equities sold its interest to Boston Properties to allow for construction of a 1,000,000 square foot office property.
