Kenneth and Lucille Gladstone entered the construction business in 1947. For the next 40 years, they performed contracting work on approximate 250,000 apartments, 25 million square feet of offices, hospitals, hotels and schools. Additionally, they executed construction work for the U.S. Air Force Base in Samson, New York, and the U.S. Navy Base in Bermuda.

In the 1950’s, the Gladstones then entered the real estate business, building their first projects in Queens, New York. Madison Equities was born as a result of the Gladstones’ first major development project in the early 1960’s, The Excelsior. In the late 1970’s and 1980’s, the Gladstones developed office buildings and mixed-use large-scale projects in Midtown Manhattan.

In 1990, their son Robert overtook management of the firm. Under his leadership, Madison Equities continues to successfully pioneer and transform project sites into visionary properties through creative solutions to land assemblages and large-scale mixed-use developments.

“WHEN WE LOOK AT A PROJECT, THE CONCEPT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT. WHO ARE YOU BUILDING THE BUILDING FOR? WHO’S ITS ULTIMATE USER AND WHAT IS THEIR EXPECTATION?”

ROBERT GLADSTONE, CEO
